Thinking of adding a shed or outside storage space to your yard or garden? Maybe a similar structure for gardening supplies or kids outside toys? If you are, then keep reading, because you’ll be able to save yourself a TON of money with a few simple tips below….

____________________________________________________________________________________________

I don’t think anyone reading this is really under the impression that building your own shed is something that WON’T save them money. My belief is that most people think that they aren’t capable of doing so and that’s WRONG! Unless there is a physical infirmity or some other type of reason that a person can’t do so, please don’t think it’s because you just don’t have the skills to do so. I want to assure you that it CAN be done and YOU are able!!

Tip 1: You CAN do it!…

“I’ve never built anything before” you say, or “I wouldn’t know where to begin”. Well that’s why getting good quality advice and a great shed kit or shed plans makes the difference between success and reward or frustration and headache. So the first thing you HAVE to do is make sure you have good information and plans to build a shed BEFORE you start.

WARNING: Many of the sites you find on the internet that have poor quality plans and graphics may get you in over your head. After looking through many of them I wouldn’t recommend just watching a Youtube video or someone’s lame drawing that they are calling “shed plans“. Below is an example of shed plans that are GUARANTEED to please you AND had about 12,000 different styles to choose from. You can use this resource to get you started OR spend hours on the internet trying to find shed kits and plans that are not only quality, but also fit the design and style you are looking for.Custom shed built inexpensively

I know the headache involved with finding good quality materials so that’s why I thought I’d post a link to one of the few quality site that have shed plans AND a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee! Check them out here: 12,000 Shed Plans w/ a Satisfaction Guarantee

Tip 2:  Make sure you know what your budget is for the shed you wan to build or the shed kit you want to buy…

Not planning for expenses such as tools (if you have none already), materials, and shipping (if you buy a kit) are mistakes that some would be “do it yourselfers” make . Don’t rush this step since this is where you can control costs and really save money.

Tip 3: Know the desired material your shed kit should be made of, or of the shed you plan to build…

If you live in a very hot and dry climate then you want to make sure you choose a material that will do well in that type of environment. Will the shed or storage unit be in the sun all day? Maybe under trees? In the rain? Consider these things and what materials are suited best for your needs and location.

Tip 4: Don’t over analyze!…

You can spend all week searching online for shed plans or do it your self shed kits and never even break ground. Make it a point to do your homework well, but then TAKE ACTION! Give yourself a deadline and stick to it as best as possible. Employ the help of friends or idle family members in the house (teenagers :) ) and bang it out! Nothing feels better than building something yourself except for spending all the $ you saved buy NOT spending $1000′s on the same shed you built for a fraction of the price!

Good luck and your feedback is appreciated.
